Adverb Clauses of Concession, Result, and Reason (Mệnh đề trạng từ chỉ sự nhượng bộ, kết quả và lý do)

A. Mệnh đề chỉ sự nhượng bộ (Concession):

  • although / though / even though: mặc dù
  • Ex: Although he is young, he is very talented.
  • Ex: She passed the exam even though she didn't study much.
  • despite / in spite of + N/V-ing: mặc dù
  • Ex: Despite the rain, we went out.
  • Ex: In spite of being tired, she continued working.

B. Mệnh đề chỉ kết quả (Result):

  • so...that: quá...đến nỗi
  • Ex: He is so smart that he can solve any problem.
  • such...that: quá...đến nỗi
  • Ex: It was such a difficult test that no one passed.
  • so + adj/adv + that
  • such + (a/an) + adj + N + that

C. Mệnh đề chỉ lý do (Reason):

  • because / since / as: bởi vì
  • Ex: I chose this career because I love helping people.
  • Ex: Since he is talented, he got the job.
  • Ex: As she studied hard, she passed the exam.
  • because of / due to + N/V-ing: bởi vì
  • Ex: I was late because of the traffic.
  • Ex: Due to his hard work, he succeeded.

D. So sánh:

  • although + clause vs despite + N/V-ing
  • Ex: Although it rained, we went out.
  • Ex: Despite the rain, we went out.
  • because + clause vs because of + N/V-ing
  • Ex: I was late because the traffic was heavy.
  • Ex: I was late because of the heavy traffic.
